As an Anaesthetiscs Consultant focusing on Trauma and Orthopaedics, your role is pivotal in delivering and enhancing anaesthesia, pain management, and critical care services within the Trust.

Collaborating across disciplines, including primary and tertiary care, you will contribute to an integrated and high-quality patient service. This role encompasses active participation in the teaching and training of junior doctors and allied healthcare professionals, as well as engaging in the broader activities of consultants at the Trust, such as teaching, clinical governance, and administration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take ongoing responsibility for patients under your care.
  • Provide consultation and advisory services to clinical colleagues in various Trust and primary care specialities.
  • Contribute to developing anaesthesia, pain, and critical care treatment protocols and guidelines.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities, participating in clinical meetings and postgraduate activities.
  • Supervise and develop trainee doctors within the speciality.
  • Cultivate effective communication with general practitioners and external agencies.
  • Demonstrate active involvement in clinical governance, risk management, and audit, ensuring continued safe clinical practice.
  • Stay updated on best practices through continuous professional development and engagement with the General Medical Council revalidation process.
  • Share accountability for data protection and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Take responsibility for improving and complying with infection control practices.

Qualifications:

  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice.
  • FRCA or equivalent.
  • Listing on the specialist register of the GMC or eligibility to be included within six months of the interview date.
